How to Remove Mould from Clothes

Mould is one of those annoying things that seem to appear... out of nowhere. It leaves horrible marks and smells really bad.  

Having mould on your clothes may also start irritating your skin and causes rashes.

1. Treat the mould spots by rubbing the areas with a toothbrush 
2. Wash clothes in the washing machine at the highest temperature TIP: add some baking soda to the mix. 
3. White vinegar or bleach can be used as a pre-treatment or in your washing machine to remove mould. 
4. Hanging your washing in the sun is another great way to kill mould. 

After removing mould from your clothes next would be to find out where the mould is coming from. 

Damp and high humidity are the main factors that cause mould. 

Mould is found anywhere and can also grow on almost any surface where moisture is present. 

When the weather has been really hot for a couple of days in a row you will notice mould growing. When there has been continuous rain it is very common to then see mould on walls, furniture and other surfaces due to the wet air. 

If your home is not well ventilated the water won't be able to evaporate fast enough. Resulting in rising damp and mould build up. 

Mould left untreated can become dangerous to your health. Some people have allergic reactions to mould. 

An allergic reaction occurs when a sensitive person breathes in mould spores that are airborne. 

“Mould spores can deposit on the lining of the nose and cause hay fever symptoms.

"They also can reach the lungs, which can cause asthma or another serious illness called allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis,” says Angel Waldron, spokesperson for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
